Barney's Chocolate Cake
Barney'S Chocolate Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 1/3 c. flour, 2/3 c. shortening, 3/4 c. powdered cocoa, 1 3/4 tsp. baking soda and 1 tsp. vanilla, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.

Sift flour, soda, salt and the cocoa together 3 times.
Cream the sugar and shortening until light and fluffy; add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Add the dry ingredients alternately with the sour milk and vanilla; beat for another 4 minutes.
Turn into a 13 x 9-inch pan, which has been greased and floured.
Bake in a moderate oven at 325Β° until done (30 to 40 minutes).
Cool, frost and serve.
