Barbecue Beans is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/2 lb. ground beef, 1/2 lb. ground pork (can use all beef), 1 medium onion, chopped, 1 (no. 2) can pork and beans and 5 tbsp. barbecue sauce, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.

Brown meat and onion in a small amount of fat in a skillet. Add beans, barbecue sauce and ketchup.

Also add brown sugar and chili powder, if used.

Turn into a 2-quart casserole; sprinkle with chopped bell pepper and bake in a 350Β° oven until it bubbles all over.

Sometimes I use a heavy iron skillet to brown the onions and meat.

Add the chopped pepper also to this and combine everything; then simmer on top of stove, until heated through. Saves time and easier on cooling system in summer.
