Sift together flour, salt and soda.

Start adding the flour mixture and buttermilk alternately, beating well after each addition.

Add mashed bananas, flavoring and chopped pecans and fold into batter, mixing well.

Pour batter into 3 (9-inch) round cake pans that have been greased and floured.

Bake at 350Β° for 30 minutes or until cake tester inserted into middle of cake comes out clean.

Remove from oven.

Let cool 10 minutes before removing from pans to finish cooling.

Frost with German Chocolate Cake Filling.
