Apple Squares
Apple Squares is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 4 c. flour, 3/4 c. cold water, 1 1/2 tsp. salt, 2 egg yolks and 1 1/2 c. crisco shortening, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Simple to make and full of bold, satisfying flavors.
Mix flour, shortening and salt together.
Beat egg yolks, lemon juice and water together and add to flour mixture.
Divide mixture in half.
Roll out first half like pie crust and place in large 10 x 15-inch pan.
Cover crust with a layer of fresh sliced apples.
Sprinkle apples with mixture of 2 tablespoons flour and 3/4 cup sugar.
Roll out second half of dough mixture and place on top of apples.
Bake at 450Β° for 45 to 50 minutes.
