Apple Pie
Apple Pie is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 to 2 1/2 lb. cooking apples (5 to 6 c.), sliced, 2/3 to 1 c. sugar, 2 tbsp. flour, 2 tbsp. butter or margarine and 1 tbsp. lemon juice, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Perfect for family dinners and special occasions.
Peel and core the apples and slice about 1/4-inch thick. Blend the sugar, flour and salt together. Sprinkle 1/4 of the mixture on the bottom crust, then stir the rest through the apples.
Put apples into pie pan compactly, forming a mound in the center. Sprinkle on lemon juice and seasoning and add butter in small pieces.
Put on the top crust and cut vents near the center for steam to escape; trim the edges and seal to the bottom crust. Bake in preheated 425Β° oven for 40 to 50 minutes until apples are fork-tender and crust is tender and golden brown.
