Add butter or oleo.

Pare apples and cut in 1/8.

Sift flour, salt and baking powder.

In shortening; add milk all at once and stir until moistened.

Roll 1/4-inch thick.

Cut in 6-inch squares. Arrange apples in squares. Sprinkle sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Dot with butter.

Fold corners to center.

Pinch edges together and place 1 inch apart in greased baking dish. Pour syrup over. Bake moderate oven (375Β°) 35 minutes. Serve hot with cream.
