Apple Dumplings
Apple Dumplings is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 c. sugar, 2 c. water, 1/4 tsp. cinnamon, 1/4 tsp. nutmeg and 1/4 c. margarine, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. An easy weeknight meal that comes together quickly.

Make syrup of sugar, water, cinnamon, nutmeg and margarine. Bring to a boil and turn off heat.
Cut shortening into flour, salt and baking powder.
Add milk all at once.
Divide into 4 equal parts.
Pare and core apples.
Slice and sprinkle with additional sugar (brown or white) and spice.
Arrange on a square piece of dough.
Dot with butter and fold corners to center.
Place upside-down in greased baking dish.
Pour hot syrup between dumplings.
Bake at 375Β° for about 35 minutes.
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream on top.
