Apple Dumplings
Apple Dumplings is an impressive dinner. Made with 6 to 8 large apples, sugar, cinnamon, 2 c. brown sugar and 2 c. water, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.
Peel and slice the apples into the bottom of a deep baking dish (9 x 9-inch approximately).
Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.
Make a syrup of the brown sugar, water, nutmeg and butter; heat until hot.
Blend the flour, salt, baking powder, sugar and shortening.
Add the milk; stir until moistened.
Drop small portions of dough on apples, leaving space for dough to expand. Pour hot syrup over dumplings and apples.
Bake at 350Β° for 45 minutes.
Serve plain or with ice cream.
