Pare apples and cut up.
Arrange in 9-inch pie pan.
Sprinkle with 1/2 cup sugar mixed with cinnamon.
Sift remaining 1/2 cup sugar with flour.
Cut in butter until crumbly.
Sprinkle over apples.
Bake at 450° for 10 minutes, then reduce temperature to 350° and bake 40 minutes longer.
