Apple Cobbler
Apple Cobbler is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/2 stick butter or oleo, 2 c. sugar, 2 c. water, 1 1/2 c. sifted flour (self-rising) and 1/2 crisco, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.

Heat oven to 350Β°.
Melt butter in 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish.
In saucepan, heat sugar and water until melts.
Cut shortening (Crisco) into flour until particles are like fine crumbs.
Add milk and stir with fork until dough leaves sides of bowl.
Turn onto floured board (or cloth).
Knead until smooth. Roll out in rectangle 1/4-inch thick.
Sprinkle with cinnamon over apples, then sprinkle apples evenly over dough.
Roll up dough like jellyroll.
Dampen edge of dough with water and seal.
Slice dough into about 16 slices 1/2-inch thick.
Place in pan with melted butter.
Pour sugar syrup around rolls.
Looks like too much liquid, crust will absorb.
Cook 55 to 60 minutes.
(Can use other fruit.)
