Toss apples in water and lemon juice.
Place in a lightly-greased baking dish (small oblong to medium Pyrex is best).
Combine flour, sugar and salt; cut in butter until resembles coarse meal.
Sprinkle flour mixture over apples.
Bake, uncovered, at 350Β° for 35 minutes before removing from oven; sprinkle cheese cheese on top.
Serve.
