Apple Butter
Apple Butter is an easy dinner. Made with 5 lb. apples (preferably different kinds), 2 c. apple cider, 2 c. dark brown sugar, 1 tsp. ground cinnamon and 1/2 tsp. nutmeg, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.

Cut apples into chunks, but do not peel.
In a glass or stainless steel kettle, combine apples and cider.
Cover and cook over medium-high heat until apples are very soft, about 30 minutes. Press through a food mill or fine sieve and return to the cleaned pot.
Stir in sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg.
Simmer over low heat, stirring occasionally, until very thick, about 2 hours.
Cool to room temperature, then refrigerate or freeze.
