Soak gelatine and cooked applesauce for 10 minutes.

Bring 3/4 cup applesauce and 2 cups sugar to a boil.

Add the gelatin mixture to sugar and sauce.

Boil 20 minutes watching carefully. Remove from heat; add nutmeats and vanilla.

Pour into greased 8 x 8-inch or 9 x 9-inch pan; let stand 24 hours.

Cut into squares. Roll in powdered sugar and place on waxed paper to dry.
