Sift together the dry ingredients.
Set aside.
Put yeast into 1/4 cup of warm water, stir, then let stand.
Cut shortening into dry ingredients.
Add yeast and buttermilk.

Pour onto floured board.
Knead.
Roll out and cut into biscuits.
Bake at 425Β°.
