Preheat oven to 350Β°.

Cream butter, sugar and vanilla together.

Stir in flour and baking powder.

Shape into walnut-size balls.

Pinch to a point on one end to resemble an acorn.

Place on cookie sheet and bake 18 minutes.

Melt caramels in double-boiler or microwave.

Dip top of "acorn" cookies into melted caramel and then into chopped pecans.

Place on wax paper to cool.
