Brown slices of country ham in ample grease (I use Crisco). Remove ham.

Brown flour very brown, put a lot of black pepper in pan and add tomato juice.

Add water to desired consistency and simmer.

Fry apples in a frying pan, adding sugar and bacon drippings until done (add a bit of salt).

Add a pan full of steaming hot biscuits that contain chunks of cheese in the center. Together with grits and lots of the tasty tomato gravy you will have a feast incomparable.
