Mix powdered sugar, coconut, nuts, and cherries in a large bowl.
Add condensed milk, melted margarine, and vanilla, stirring until the candy mixture holds together.
Drop teaspoonfuls onto wax paper and press a toothpick into each piece.
Freeze until firm enough to dip cleanly.
Melt the chocolate chips with paraffin if using, dip each candy, and return to wax paper to set.
