Devil's Food Cake
Devil'S Food Cake is an impressive dessert you can prepare in about 1 hour 42 minutes. Made with unsweetened baking chocolate, c boiling water, c cake flour (regular flour works well), salt and margarine or butter, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.
Melt chocolate in water, let cool.
Sift flour and salt together; set aside.
Cream butter.
Add 1 1/2 cups of the sugar and continue creaming until light and fluffy.
Beat in egg yolks. Blend in dry ingredients alternating with sour cream and vanilla. Dissolve soda in chocolate; stir chocolate mixture and coloring into batter.
Beat egg whites until foamy.
Gradually add remaining 1/2 cup sugar and continue beating until soft peaks form; fold into batter.
Pour into 2 - 8 inch round pans (lined with wax paper).
Bake at 350 for 40-45 minutes.
Frost with White Icing Recipe (do add the peanut butter).
